Summary of Dracula

Jonathan Harker, a young notary, goes to Transylvania to negotiate a sale with Count Dracula. It doesn't take him long to discover his host's terrible secret: Dracula is a vampire that goes out at night to quench his thirst for human blood.

When he arrives in England, Dracula chooses as hsi vistim Lucy, who is a friend of Mina, Jonathan's fiancé. Luch bleeds to death.

Will Jonathan Harker, Mina and the condescending professor Van Helsing manage to defeat the vampire? The novel appears as dossier of letters and parts of the diaries of each of different characters.

Dracula

Bram Stoker:

Mysterious and tormented: that's what we know about Bram Stoker, the creator of Dracula. And, indeed, that is how he must have been to imagine such a bloodthirsty creature. 104 years later, the author is perhaps not so well rembembered but Dracula is certainly still as famous as ever. It's a cae of character that has "eliminated" its author!

1847: Bram Stoker is born in Clontarf (Dublin).

1867: He goes to uniuversity

1876: He meets the actor Henry Irving in the Royal Theatre in Dublin

1878: He marries Florence Balcomb, whom he meets at the home of the parents of the famous writer Oscar Wilde. He starts working as a stage manager in the Lyceum Theater in London.

1882: Publicitation of this first book of stories.

1883: Lyceum Theatre American tour. He meets the American poet, Walt Whitman.

1890: He meets professor Arminius Vambery, and joins a secret society. Publication of his first novel, The Snake Pass.

1894: Publication of stories.

1895: Publication of the novel The Shoulder of Shasta

1897: Pulbication of Dracula. First and only representation of the theatrical adaptation of Dracula.

1905: Henry Irving dies

1911: Publication of the novel The Lair of the White Worm.

1912: He dies on the 21st of April.

1915: Publication of short posthumous novels, amongst wich we can find Dracula's Guest. 

Nicki Minaj

It feels late to be tipping rapper Nicki Minaj, but she is just about break into the mainstream with her debut album Pink Friday. She has already been a guest on songs by Kanye West, Christina Agulera, Usher and Mariah Carey, and she is funny, fast and cartoony, like Eminem when he's in good mood. And the prospect of a new Britney Spears album is exciting. According to Glee creator Ryan Murphy, the new one is return to her dane roots, and is "great".

Walt Disney anniversary

The 5 December 2011 is the 110th anniversary of the birth of Walt Disney. did you know that Disney based his famous character Mickey Mouse on his pet mouse?

Maroon 5

American pop group Maroon 5 have been making albums since 2002. They have sold more than 15 million albums. And now they're back at the top of the charts. The single "Moves Like Jagger" with Christina Aguilera has been a big hit. Watch the video... you'll see Mick Jagger doing his famous dance moves.

Banana shoes

These funny shoes are by Israeli designer Kobi Levi. He puts humour into his creations. But he also has serious ambitions for them too. "When I design a shoe I think about it as a sculpture to wear". he says. "Shoes should have a life with and without being on the fee".

Winter is fun!

Every year, the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Canada, becomes the world's largest skating rink. Families go to there to ice skate and to play hokey.
You can watch professional ice sculptors... and you can also make an ice sculpture yourself!!

Loud is the new album by R&B singer Rihanna. "I can't belive it's the fifth album already" says the 22-years old singer from Barbados. "The name of the album reflects its attitude. It gets your attention", she says. "I wanted songs that had that West Indian vibe... that tone and energy!!"

You probably know the famous Rubik's cube. Now a mystery street artist called Invader has started a new art movement: "Rubikubism". He twests Rubik's cubes to get the colours to make famous people and objects.
This image has more than 100 Rubik's cubes. Invader has algo recreated the Mona Lisa: He sells his art for 23,000 euros. But his identity is still a big secret!!

Crazy about Robert!

Attention Robert Pattinson fans! You can now your idol at madame Tussauds museum in London.
With American actor Zac Efron and Johnny Deep, Robert is one of the most popular waxworks. He took four months to make and cost 170,000 euros. And now there's a big queue of fans who want to kiss him.

Longest telephone call....

If your parents say you spend too much time on the phone, tell them about Tony Wright. Tony stayed on the phone for 40 hours!
He made the world's longest phone call to a supermarket in London.
It will donate 400 pounds to charity. And luckily it is also paying for the call!

A bizarre wedding cake

A wedding would not be complete without a cake.
And in Britain wedding cakes are very elaborate and covered in delicious white icing.
This one looks particulary good, but don't try to eat it...
It is made of bones!
British art student Jodie Carey made the sculpture from 2,000 plaster casts of human bones.
